Biography
Gary Garcia is an alumni of CSU Channel Islands, where he obtained his B.A. in Sociology. While at Channel Islands, he worked with the Ventura County Homeless and Housing Coalition to develop a comprehensive survey on resources for the homeless. Gary became a member of the inaugural class of Alpha Tau of California, CSUCI’s chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta. Professor Garcia also had the opportunity to work as an enumerator for the 2010 Census conducting follow up interviews with local residents during his time at CI. His interests include applied sociology, social problems, and social movements.
Most recently, Gary earned his M.A. degree in Sociology from CSU Northridge and has been teaching sociology courses at College of the Canyons. He has a variety of professional experience in higher education and, is currently working with Career Development Services here at CSU Channel Islands.
Gary enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife Ashley and baby boy Darien, who was born in February 2016.
