Greg Goalwin earned his PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in June 2017. A sociologist and historian of global politics, Greg focuses on the study of identity formation in and around the "global borderlands" places in between and on the boundaries of national communities. His research primarily examines the relationship between religion, culture, ethnicity, and nationalism in the Middle East and Europe, with specific focus on Turkey and Ireland. Greg is excited to be at CSUCI this year and will be teaching courses on research methods, statistics, and social stratification.
